At last a rational Q&A of NAC, thank you! Joel, nice work. NAC is one very important part of security but there is not as much new as people think. And, as much I also hate "it depends" it really depends on the business you are. That's where I disagree a little, you have to watch your printers. How do you know that the confidential report is going to the right printer. In 70's we had offices all over the world, people traveling, accessing reports back from home and printing. One of the most difficult parts were to guarantee the printer was next to person where ever they happened to be. Technically a little different problem today but the basics are same, authentication and authorization follows the person. And it gets even more interesting today if you usually are using some secure, private connection and your backup is a public network, cell or internet. Now, by law in some places there is part of information that can not be sent via public lines no matter what but the rest can and has to go. Makes life very interesting sometimes!
