Important to know
The important thing to know when you read articles is the head of the department will always get credit for what has been approved for installation in an environment (even if they had limited involvement). What Mike has done is not bad. The only concern that I see about this article is the folks involved in the creation of the system have not been given any credit (who cares). Yes, the information is also not completely correct but that does not matter. The fact is these systems where installed and configured to work in some limited fashion. Not all of their features are being leveraged but they are in the environment.
Many of the people on the security team are new to the security team. The folks that setup the environment are mostly the datacenter server & network teams and the one security team member that is left on the team during that time period.
The fact is the foundation was established. The new security team has the task of leveraging the technology for the future and deciding where it can be used best.
A large problem with CEC IT is the nature of which people can not respect each other or other groups. As a former IT employee at CEC I respected everyone I worked with no matter what my opinion was of their knowledge/skill set or personality. It is a shame people would flame one’s own company or former company because of an article that might not be completely accurate and glorifies a group that is trying to establish a necessary business need.
I wish the best for CEC and hope some eyes are opened due to this article and its comments. Good luck, Congrats and happy Holidays to everyone at CEC.
