Tim, What part of, "But
Tim,
What part of, "But plenty of those aging careerists sledding toward retirement just represent lots of inertia and resistance to change", do you not get? I don't think the author was suggesting anyone go out and discriminate.
In fact, the author made a specific point (as you referenced in your cut-n-paste) to specifically identify people that are are pulling their weight. The only recommendation for trimming is for those that are "careerists sledding toward retirement" and who are resistant to change.
Anyone in any organization, other than government lifers, who are resistant to change that an organization is pushing, should be dealt with swiftly regardless of age so as not to slow the momentum of the business. Being old doesn't give a worker the right to buck the system.
Also, how can an opinion columnist break the law by typing? Pull your head out of it's warm and comfy place please.
