I can already predict one of the hottest toys for the year -- the Guitar Hero Air Guitar Rocker is simply awesome. The device includes a mini-amplifier that attaches to a belt, and then a belt buckle-like sensor attaches to the front of your body. Using a plastic "pick", you wave that in front of the sensor and you begin to play a guitar riff. The device comes with 10 guitar riffs, including five famous songs (Black Sabbath's "Iron Man", Deep Purple's "Smoke on the Water", Motorhead's "Ace of Spades", Van Halen's "You Really Got Me" and Boston's "More Than a Feeling") and five freestyle riffs.
Jada Toys, which makes the $29.99 device, also plans on creating additional song cartridges, including ones for specific periods, like '80s heavy metal, etc.
Stay tuned for the Network World video where I try the device, after which my video producer, Jason, told me that I "looked like one of those '50s rock and roll players." I guess I need to work on my air guitar stage presence.
