The quoted data rates are impressive, but you have to have very favorable signal conditions to see these data rates. This fact is common to all technologies that use adaptive modulation and coding (UMTS with HSPA, UMB, CDMA2000 EV-DO, Wimax, and LTE). The advocates of all these technologies sometimes quote the highest possible bandwidths using unrealistic assumptions about overhead for MAP signaling slots (in the case of Wimax).

This technology can't economically compete against wired broadband in urban areas. And it is expensive to offer decent coverage inside of buildings. I therefore don't understand what market this technology will serve -- nomadic pedestrians?

Now put this technology in the sub-1GHz band -- that would be interesting...
