I'll continue to work in IT,
I'll continue to work in IT, but as others have said, I will continue to be selective about who I work for while I can. If the 'economics' of things get so bad that I can not do this, like you I will simply find work in another field that does not entail the same type of time commitment/indentured servitude. The fact of the matter is, right now, every new job I take on, I get higher pay, more responsibilities, and more knowledge. What some 'management' isn't getting is that this is an evolving field... the only people who stick around doing the same thing year after year is dead weight. What I have is motivation and ambition. If they can't take advantage of that, then someone else will.
