Cisco's bread-and-butter Catalyst LAN switches have been souped up to support the demands of the new markets that Cisco is focusing much of its efforts - those that use media-rich business
collaboration software and high-performance business applications. Cisco has also added enhanced Power over Ethernet capabilities to its Catalyst line, beginning with the Catalyst 3750-E and 3560-E Series, with the Catalyst 6500 and Catalyst 4500-E Series scheduled to follow in the second quarter of this year, writes Network World's Jim Duffy. Cisco also rolled out new fixed 10G Ethernet aggregation switches in its Catalyst 3560-E Series, and added PoE support in its Catalyst 2960 Series switches.
