This review seems a bit biased?
It sounds as if you didn't even log into the Admin console for the Kbox.
I have had both the Kbox 1200 series and 2000 series for about 6 months now. We brought Kace's Kbox management solution in to replace our clunky CA Unicenter.
This thing has been nothing but kick butt as soon as I racked it(Yeah, ONE network appliance to run everything) and configured the settings. Not to mention it blew away every other solution as far as price is concerned.
I use the USB management portion to control what PCs can use their usb ports for USB memory sticks, so yes, it does work.
I use VNC via the KBOX to remotely control ALL of my systems. It's easy as installing the VNC client via KBOX and then clicking a button to connect to the system. I'm not sure if you are saying that it does not have "built in" remote control features. Well duh, most solutions do not. You have to PUSH a client to the PC unless you are using RDP.
Virtual Machine management? Funny. I manage over 20 VM systems via the KBox. Again, not sure what you mean by no VM support.
Backup and recovery of the DBs is pretty straight forward. Like cbarnes said, read the manual.
Mobile devices? Again, pretty vague. Laptops? PDAs? Cells? Pagers? I manage all of our Laptops just fine and I'd assume I could get our PDAs to sync up if we wanted to manage them.
I haven't even mentioned the support from the folks over at Kace yet. It is by far the best support for any product I have ever purchased. They truly listen to the customer and make improvements on their systems from customer feedback.
I really can't stand when reviews like this make it out into the mainstream. It would be interesting to see how much time was actually spent "REVIEWING" each system.
All I can say is, call Kace and get a demo if you don't believe me.
