It's no secret that Cisco has targeted India as one of its key regions. In October, it announced plans to inject another
$100 million into the country through its venture investment, and plans to house 20% of its "top talent" there in the next four years. Now Cisco is looking beyond its own staff in India and is focusing on increasing the number of Cisco-skilled network pros in India to 360,000 engineers in the next five years - a six-fold increase over the present employment levels, according to a Cisco news release. Two of India's largest technologies training companies, IIHT and NIIT, joined Global Knowledge and Training Partners as authorized Cisco learning partners, offering Cisco's existing array of training materials and certifications. With Cisco hinting that the company's future strategic decisions could begin to come out of Bangalore rather than Silicon Valley, what does all this mean for folks with Cisco skills in the United States?
