Unfortunately that does not solve the core issue that they key is in external RAM as plaintext for relatively long periods of time. Virtualization and sudden power interruptions or kernel panics also add complexity because you may have no idea when halting or suspending occurs, so you can not prepare.
Better key handling is a more complete solution (by better I mean having plaintext versions for as small of a time window was possible). OS X might have the easiest path to victory due to some extra HW on all recent Macs that could help with this.
