So, the Microsoft Subnet blog picked on Ray Ozzie a couple of weeks ago, accusing Ozzie of having no impact on Microsoft's direction. But as Microsoft now announces another enterprise-class SaaS service, "SQL Server Data Services," perhaps Ozzie's star seems to be rising after all.
If Ozzie can make the company understand that SaaS will kill the fat client, maybe Microsoft can apply its talent toward inventiveness in this new area, rather than all the many ways it tries to keep the status quo (case in point ... OOXML).
