More information has shown that Apple is picking and choosing only the applications to sell on the iTunes store - anyone is free to distribute whatever applications they want by themselves.

And it's not that they want everyone to develop security applications - it's that they took the time creating an application environment on the iPhone to run these SDK apps that is secure from these types of threats.
