In the statement, "It's important to point out that there's a significant rise in consumer tools that are used for business purposes ..." you have identified one of the major challenges of IT today. It is becoming increasingly difficult to tell executives to leave their toys at home. There is are very good reasons for the defining lines of consumer, business, enterprise, industrial and mil-spec grades of hardware. While it is understandable that the boardroom may not care about the details of the definitions, this state of mind makes it imperative that they trust the experienced IT staff to evaluate, decide and enforce what solutions are to be implemented. Without backing us on demanding a track record before production environment implementation of a communications solution, it is foolish to assume the risk will be minimal and potentially costly for the organization.
