An astronaut aboard the International Space Station is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch at tonight's Red Sox/Yankees game in New York City. According to the NY Daily News:
[Dr. Garrett] Reisman, a lifelong Yankee fan, carried a Yankee banner, a cap autographed by George Steinbrenner and a pile of dirt from the Yankee Stadium pitcher's mound with him onboard the International Space Station on March 12.
Dr. Reisman must have some arm to reach home plate from 200+ miles above the earth. If he does make it, even on a bounce, the Yankees should sign him to replace weak-armed Johnny Damon in the outfield. Catcher Jorge Posada better where an oven mitt to catch the ball as it might be a little toasty after entering earth's atmosphere.
