WiMAX devices and XOHM !
What the Sceptics of WiMAX have seen so far is mostly the fixed version of WiMAX.There are too many differences in the Mobile WiMAX technology, which has improved on the shortcomings of Fixed WiMAX that few are now deploying it if the mobile WiMAX option is available. It is true that there have been delays in getting the certified devices, but that phase is over now.
Mobile WiMAX permits mobile or fixed devices to transmit only the required number of subcarriers thereby extending the range, has multiple antenna support and mulicast/ broadcast services(MBS). The MBS services alone can make it a killer technology.
None of the existing technologies such as EV-DO or HSPA comes even close to what mobile WiMAX can deliver. The spectrum costs are lower, it is available and sorely needed for the wide bandwidth applications which are the norm today. Google with its YouTube, Google earth and Image based search engines and desktops can don a new color if this connectivity is available.
