Got a call from Justin at Modus following up on the client phone interview I had yesterday. He was a little concerned over how technical the interview had become versus what he had been told that I should expect. I went over with him the kind of questions they were asking.
With the way they were asking about different kinds of SQL experience, I told him that I probably wasn't the type of candidate they were looking for. He said the client had changed what they were looking for a couple of times so he was going to get with the account manager for the position to see what kind of feedback he could get about my interview.
I was contacted by an out of state recruiter for a contract position with a national IT Outsourcing company. Didn't get a lot of details from me before starting to push for me to sign a letter of representation with very little information on the job. After having been burned by one IT Sourcing company, I am reluctant to work with another one. Will see what I can find on my own about this situation.
Got a call that seems to be the start of the pattern. An HR representative from a nearby county government called me about my resume that was posted on CareerBuilder. She inquired about several things on my resume and asked for me to go to their Web site and apply for the position. The application process was refleshingly simple. I expected to have to provide some basic information - name, address, phone number, etc. The next part was really nice, all I had to do was upload a copy of my resume in Word format. So many of the sites, you have to enter the same information in terms of employer name, dates of employment, etc
that is already on the resume. Will be anxious to hear something on
this position. The pattern I am seeing is that more companies are reaching out directly to candidates based on their resume and not from job postings on the CareerBuilder site.
Got a call from the credit union processing organization that I had interviewed two months ago. The HR person stated that they had an additional person leave the department, so they are re-evaluating the type of person they are looking to bring in at this point. They will bring in a contract worker shortly until they can find the right person for them. I was then advised that I was no longer in consideration. Due to the amount of time I had spent talking to them, I asked where I had fallen short on what they were looking for. The HR person said he couldn't tell me that. Would have expected more than that with the onsite interview having lasted for 4 hours. I am sure there is a legal reason, but I was looking for a way to improve my chances on the next position that comes my way.
Got an email from Jim Scott at Professional Search and Staffing about a Network Admin position in the Kansas City area. Responded back with my availability to talk to him. Waiting to hear from him at this point.
