It seems to me there is a fourth front in your perfect storm, and that is Unified Communications. It could be argued UC fits under Web 2.0 – after all, what is UC but a collaborative application that uses an integrated interface to mashup multiple types of media applications – but the impact of UC on the LAN/WAN is different from what you describe as the dangers of Web 2.0. That is, UC will cause an increase in the number and frequency of fat, real-time data steams running across the LAN/WAN as the use of streaming audio and (especially) video – with low tolerance for latency, packet loss etc – becomes more common. Thoughts?
