Really, all this discussion about WAN this and that is so boring. Sure there's all sorts of new toys for the geeks among us but the practical business reality still hasn't emerged. If executives were to simply examine HOW their IT resources are used and to what extent they contribute to the "bottom line" they'd soon realize all the bandwidth they'd need is a 56K line. Web video, surfing, chat, emailing vacation photos and the like burn countless business cycles and contribute nothing to the business. Users are driving bandwidth consumption because stakeholders and IT are clueless and the cause.
