Why force 911 on VoIP consumers?

I think voip should be able to sell their products and service with out E911. Many their are going with voip and using this is a 2nd line. I would like to purchase voip but no one is offering for my local town area. They can get it for other area but not mine. Thank you

Re: FCC lets VoIP providers slide on 911 - again.

I agree!

And so do the people who will be the first deaths resulting from lack of E911.

You fall down, someone grabs your modern looking phone. Hits 911. Nothing!

You die, but your estate is 11$ richer because of the lack of E911.

Rather than force HD transmissions onto the world, force 911 services to stay up to date, and support E911. VOIP 911 should be something federal funding provides.
