Windows Search is (still) infuriating me!

Search in Windows Vistaâ„¢ is (still) infuriating me!

Why?

1) Wildcards. Who came up with the idea of no longer using wildcards in search? Who?

2) Starting Search does not default to searching non-indexed locations, despite options set to do that.

3) Indexing speed like really sucks. You also cannot set indexing to run in a prioritized state in order to speed it up.

4) Customization. What customization. The few options available make me want to throw the mouse at the screen.

5) Results are unreliable. This is the first version of Windows where search delivers different results every time. Using the same search parameters, for goodness sakes.

I am about ready to install Windows Live Desktop Search in place of Windows Search!

Does anyone have a better strategy to improve Windows Vista Search?
