Note that as part of the deal, Microsoft licenses LG patents for gaming hardware. So perhaps the deal is more about Microsoft getting the IP it wants, while throwing in the Linux IP licensing for a little bit of chest-pounding. For more on Microsoft vs. Linux go here:
