China Mobile Market Explodes

China's mobile-phone users totaled more than 500 million in June, double that of the U.S., as the nation's biggest carriers cut charges, driving growth at a faster pace than forecasted. With a population of 1.6B they only have 1.0B to go. China Mobile Ltd. and China Unicom Ltd. added 40.6 million users in the first six months for a combined 501.7 million users.

What is really interesting is that China, although dominated by low end handsets, is working hard on application services including mobile payments and location based services.
