RE: Quest's buy of ScriptLogic good news for Windows users

It's great step by Quest to buy ScriptLogic specially Quest can do the value addition by getting advantage of Desktop Authority, Patch, MSI etc.

Also it should include the software distribution module into the Quest software specially for Windows Infrastructure which will become whole suite in one package to end customers. Also Quest should integrate into Quest software very fast may be next couple Months compliment to the platinum customers.

Ramesh, I am not so sure.

Ramesh, I am not so sure. In the vain of the analysts discussing players in this space going open source in the last few days, things may change.

on the surface maybe but....

The CEO and top leaders at Quest were held big shares in the company that backed ScriptLogic and likely stood the most to benefit. Why is no one upset about this? Quest says in a statement it is not material! How could it not be? They are paying nearly five times earnings for ScriptLogic. Easy to see who is benefiting here.

"Did you realize the director of Quest is a managing director and co-founder of Insight the venture capital firm that backed SL.
Jerry Murdock, a director of Quest, is a Managing Director and the co-founder of Insight Venture Partners and an investor in the Insight Funds. Each of Vincent Smith, Quest's Chairman of the Board and CEO, and Ray Lane and Paul Sallaberry, both directors of Quest, are passive limited partners in the Insight Funds, and will be entitled to a portion of the proceeds from the transaction by virtue of their respective ownership interests therein. Quest believes that the financial interests of Messrs. Smith, Lane and Sallaberry in the transaction are not material."
