A wireless transmission method in which available bandwidth is divided into regular intervals for different data streams.
In a TDMA system, three time slots are assigned to a single, 30-kHz carrier frequency, allowing a single channel to support multiple phone calls. TDMA forms the heart of GSM, a wireless-phone standard that is in common use outside the U.S.
