3Com Buy News with relations to China Puts forward interesting theory. MASS BUYING..
China did the same in Telecom . Never game huge contracts. Instead asked Motorola to tweat some technology and sell to China. Motorola networks as much as I know is not TOP 3 slot or not-much in news.

cisco vs Juniper.
when it comes to Junipers market share in service providers space and enterprise security space, its not because of sheer luck, I am not sure how technical you are : but
junipers product line is far superior than cisco.they are too advanced, scalabale, consumes much less power, one super great operating system thru out the product lines, yes even the security gateways and the new switches they are releasing will have junos.
so this is my take:
Cisco has a lot of muscle than Juniper.
Cisco has loads of other products than Juniper offers.
but otherwise:
Juniper products are far superior, easy to maintain and use, better ROI than cisco.
Juniper didnt learn the dirty politics that Cisco
employs when it comes to marketing/sales of their
products.
Cisco vs Juniper (Marketing?)
Judging by your commentary there, it would seem more like a marketing message than an actual technical argument.
Both are actually very good, both have their markets and strengths and weaknesses. So rather than coming out with blanket statements about one being better than another (which shows remarkable myopia there, much akin to marketing) one needs to understand the underlying business plan and network topology before making any decision.
My suggestion would be to employ some consultant who is hopefully bright enough to have experience in both, and be able to talk intelligently about both.
Otherwise, no matter which way you go, you'll make some sales team very happy because of the quick, snappy, and not-always-correct decisions about who is the "best" around.
Scott
PS. When Juniper sales dweebs are putting things in at 90% off list price, to a point where Cisco isn't going to compete, it's kinda hard to point the "dirty politics" finger around too much. :)
(The market is what it is, and everyone does things at certain points depending on what their strategy is, so get off it)
Re: Cisco vs Juniper (Marketing?)
In my experience the bottom line is that in almost every case, anything that Juniper has produced to compete with Cisco has been the superior product. They're very calculated and controlled in their methods.
Cisco, however, was very smart in their pushing of education and certification services to partners such as Global Knowledge and with their Cisco Academy programs. It's a brand name strategy that's worked. Juniper has its work cut out for them in this department, but have done well to convince a large group of people without being dishonest and relying merely on their technical prowess. Will it continue? I can't really say, but they've been really impressive thus far.
