Cisco Chambers' big night in Las Vegas

Cisco CEO John Chambers has secured a keynote address at the 2008 International Consumer Electronics Show in sparkly Las Vegas. The show took over from Comdex as the top industry conference and is the place to be if you want to be seen as a cool consumer electronics vendor.

OK, so Chambers' spot isn't the opening keynote - that's usually reserved for Bill Gates (read about his performance at last year's show) - Chambers will be addressing guests at the Leaders in Technology Dinner.

Gary Shapiro, president and CEO of the Consumer Electronics Association, which puts on CES, had this to say about Chambers' big night on Jan. 8, 2008, at The Venetian: “John Chambers is an industry pioneer with a clear vision for the future of consumer technology. Under Chambers’ direction, Cisco continues to serve as the lead provider of networking solutions to connect consumers, businesses and government leaders across the globe. We are thrilled to have John speak at the Leaders in Technology dinner, as this group of policymakers is the voice responsible for the protection and progression of technology innovation.”

It's not known what Chambers will discuss with these "technology leaders" but what's the betting that he'll talk about Web 2.0 and Linksys (or perhaps it will just be known as Cisco by then)?
