Note that in the article, it was SFP+ components that were causing the stir. SFP+ provides the best port density available right now, and Force10 doesn't currently ship a product with SFP+ ports. Why would you spend $8.5K on a Force10 chassis and then pay over $2K per port when you can do it with a top-of-rack switch for $400/port?

Google switches - Raptor Networks
There is a rumour, big company will aquire Raptor Networks ( only vendor which could build 10g L2 over virtual data center switches at wire speed). I believe it could be google's step in for Network 10g
Better & Cheaper
Most of the switch guys outsource all their manufacturing. Google likely has some very talented people and can design and engineer their own product and have it built, this giving them further competitive advantage.
