A seemingly buff Nortel appears to be gaining the upper hand over Cisco in the enterprise wireless networking market, according to CMP Channel in data derived from the NPD Group/Distributor Track.
Nortel posted a 9.6 percent increase in market share to 22.87 percent. In contrast, Cisco, whose market share stood at 74.2 percent at the end of 2006, dropped 14.6 points to 54.78 percent.
A Nortel partner in Maryland is claiming to have grown 1,012 percent over the past five years.
Perhaps Nortel's muscle gain is coming from working out with Microsoft in their blossoming communications alliance.
