Kucinich Krazies kicking the crap out of Paul People over at Reddit

By Paul McNamara on Tue, 12/11/07 - 3:37pm.

Mob rule is overrunning Reddit once again this afternoon. But, for an oddly refreshing change of pace, we see that the madly clicking hordes are primarily the quixotic online army of Democratic presidential hopeful Dennis Kucinich as opposed to the quixotic online army of fellow candidate Ron Paul, which routinely dominates that particular popularity poll.

What's up with that, you Paul Peeps? Sleeping on the job? (Or maybe the respective campaign camps have agreed to take turns?)

As I type, four of Reddit's nine top-rated stories involve the derring-do of Kucinich, darling of the hopeless dreamer wing of the Democratic Party.

Last time we took note of the wisdom of Reddit's crowd run amok it was during a dizzying display of "Impeach Bush and Cheney" mania, which last time I checked had failed to result in the impeachment of either one (of course, that was before we learned of the missing torture tapes).

Crowds don't only get carried away at Reddit, of course, as was seen recently at Amazon during the unsuccessful search for the missing airplane of adventurer Steve Fossett.

But politics does seem to attract more than its fair share of online zealots who consider making their presence known a show of their candidate's strength. (See Paul, Ron.)

Oh, I know what you're thinking: This is all sour grapes from a curmudgeonly pundit. After all, those who tout the wisdom of crowds invariably compare that collective sagacity favorably to the paucity of same in pundits such as yours truly.

Hey, at least here you know who to call an idiot.
