RE: IBM System x3650

This result is of no surprise, Checkpoint cheated - The IBM system runs a technology called coreXL which Checkpoint have developed to make use of multi-core CPUs. The issue is that Checkpoint to date have only just allowed their other partners to develope this feature, Nokia and Crossbeam will release coreXL features in '08. As I say a good result but no surprise..

CoreXL is definitely new

CoreXL is definitely new stuff, and I think that we were fortunate to get access to it as early as we did for this testing. I'm not sure that I'd use the word "cheating" to describe this: neither the Crossbeam or Nokia box had multi-core CPUs, so it's not like they would have been faster on the same hardware.

What's more surprising to me is that the Secure Platform (Crossbeam, Check Point, IBM) boxes didn't always have support for multiple core CPUs. Some things you just take for granted... until you get burned!
