Kudos for a Very interesting piece!
There are a couple of relevant points that come to mind:
1. Fiber has been the cheapest way to go on a 10-year basis since about 1989.
This is common knowledge among real experts.
2. The phone guys expect to have a royal monopoly for another 100 years,
yet they have opposed (like the AMA) every innovation from fiber to the Internet.
My local copper line was left on the ground for 3 months until I complained.
3. Real broadband begins at 100Mhz; my home internal network has been 1Gighz
for 2 years with the most expensive item being the copper cable!
4. The USA is in a global race on all this but we are headed for last place!
