Let's Get Reacquainted & How to Optimize Windows Server 2008 for Branch Office Communications (Four Part Series)

I'mmmmm Back!!!

So it has been a few months since the release of my SQL Server 2005 Management and Administration book and my last blog post.  Since then I have been co-authoring another title with a team of great authors (Rand Morimoto, Michael Noel, Chris Amaris, and Omar Droubi) We have finalized the manuscript of our new book Windows Server 2008 Unleashed - which is ready to ship in the next few weeks.

Windows Server 2008 Unleashed covers the planning, design, prototype testing, implementation, migration, administration, and support of a Windows 2008 and Active Directory environment, based on more than three and a half years of early adopter experience in full production environments. This book addresses not only what is new with Windows 2008 compared to previous versions of the Windows Server product, but also what is different and how the similarities and differences affect an organization’s migration to Windows 2008. Chapters are dedicated to the migration process from Windows 2000/2003 to Windows 2008, how to properly use Group Policies in Windows 2008, and tips and tricks on managing and administering a Windows 2008 environment.

With the release of our new Windows Server 2008 Unleashed book,  Networkworld has invited me back and I plan on posting a number of blogs covering topics pertaining to Windows Server 2008.  For the first set of blogs, I am going to focus on best practices associated with optimizing Windows Server 2008 for Branch Office Communications. This 4 part series will cover branch office limitations with Windows Server 2003, Read Only Domain Controllers,  Bit Locker Drive Encryption, and Enhancing Replication and Wan Utilization at the Branch Office.

STAY TUNED!!! and PLEASE provide comments and let me know if you want me to cover anything specific.  Don't forget to sign up for a free copy of the Windows Server 2008 Unleashed book offered through Networkworld.
