How Microsoft acquired Yahoo..

By ronaldxbartels on Sat, 02/02/08 - 1:20am.

Bill and Steve go into a conference room for a meeting with their Dell laptops. Steve heads for the coffee and Bill decides to create a shopping list for dinner that night. Steve starts ranting and raving at the coffee table about what Microsoft strategy should be while Bill stares at his screen as Vista slowly boots. Bill ignores Steve. Steve does not notice. After 5 minutes, Steve screams: "SO BILL WHAT SHOULD WE DO?"
Bill has finally opened Notepad and in his excitement shouts, "Yahoo!"
Steve taken aback, asks, "But why Bill?"
"Steve, why the fuss? It is only pudding and pie?"
"That simple, huh? How much do you want to spend?"
"About 44 and some change."
"Done, I'll go and sort it out."

Miss communication

I have to wonder how many mergers, acquisitions and collapses have been due to something like this. Love to be a fly on the wall in the boardrooms of the world.

Hold on, I have the answer I am just waiting for Vista to boot.!

If not mergers, acquisitions and collapses then definitely war is an example of failed communications.

Although this was a skit, the part about the time Vista takes to boot rings true. I wonder how many tech support calls have the customer frustrated as the techie says, "please hold on while my PC boots."

The claim is XP takes 30 seconds while Vista takes 100 seconds or more to boot. That is 70 seconds or 2.5 kilometres if you are driving a car or 551 kilometres in a space shuttle (if my maths is correct).

I never understoood why

I never understoood why Network World publishes absolutely useless stuff like this. What a waste of space. I think this should be moved to livejournal, where it belongs with millions of other meaningless posts.

Blogs are never mainstream news

Hiya Peter, I would agree with you but this is not part of the mainstream news area but part of the blog area. It has a different social media purpose, like bringing a laugh to our otherwise meaningless existence. The wasted space is about 1.6 KB?
