I asked about this when I applied to the program in June 2005. It wasn't an option then, unfortunately. Considering the program costs around $30,000USD, being able to forgo 1/6th of that hefty price-tag as well as 3 months of course-work is a Good Thing.

CISSP Credit & MSIA Program
I too inquired about this when I started the Program in June 2006. Now, having completed it less than 90 days ago and seeing this, should I have thought about waiting to start?
Not on your life! I've learned more about business and security than the benefit of that savings.
Good for you Dr. Kabay, I hope this will generate more interest, admissions and successful completion of this program by candidates that will one day take my place in this field.

Seminar 1 Should Remain Mandandory for All
I was a CISSP when I began Norwich's MSIA program in 12/05. For me, attending Seminar 1 was critical in graduating from Norwich with a 4.0 GPA. Not only did this class help me get used to being “back in school” with material I already knew, it also helped me adjust to the incredibly fast pace and enormous time management demands imposed by this program. Without the experience I gained during Seminar 1, I might easily have become part of my class’ 33% attrition rate. I strongly recommend that all MSIA students take this class.

Points for CISSP
I’m currently looking for a MSIA program, but to be honest after research, I think I’ll forgo this one. I don’t think I need to go into this kind of debt just to add more letters behind my name. So, having the CISSP knocks off on semester and 1\6 of the cost, what do I get for an MCES, the CISA and CCNA, the CEH and an 18 hour certificate course in Information Assurance from the University of Maryland? Gee guys, $30,000 that a lot to prove something you probably already know.
