RE: Security issues scuttle Bain/Huawei bid for 3Com

I wonder just how much of this was the effect of Cisco lobbying against it. Too bad... The US keeps trying to close the borders and while we may isolate ourselves from "competition" what we're really doing is isolating ourselves from the world...

Allowing a communist regime

Allowing a communist regime with a well documented track record of suppression, corruption, and anti-competitive tactics to control a company like TippingPoint (subsidiary of 3COM) with extremely advanced technology would be stupid. Add to this the fact that Huawei is more competent in stealing &/or copying anything they can find, even if it requires breaking into competitor booths at tradeshows after hours to photograph equipment internals (http://www.businessweek.com/technology/content/jul2004/tc20040730_5618_tc024.htm), and I say 'hats off' to the govt for doing something right in the technical world.
