Cisco, Patent Troll Tracker sued for defamation

Just days after outing himself as the author of the controversial Patent Troll Tracker blog, Cisco IP Director Rick Frenkel and the networking giant are being sued by two individuals in separate cases for alleged defamation. The first suit is from T. John Ward, Jr., issued Feb. 27 in the 188th Judicial District of Gregg County, Texas, and the second is from Eric Abritton, issued March 3, again in Gregg County. (Read the entire story at The Prior Art blog.)

According to the blog LegalPad, Cisco is sticking by Frenkel. The blog cites a Cisco spokesperson's response to the latest legal wrangle: "We would like to underscore that the comments made in the employee's personal blog represented his own opinions and several of his comments are not consistent with Cisco's views. We continue to have high regard for the judiciary of the Eastern District of Texas and confidence in the integrity of its judges."
