Looks that way, according to Salon's Glenn Greenwald, a media superstar when it comes to sifting through the Washington bamboozlement and getting straight to the heart of this matter. Greenwald tells of the most recent effort by House Democratic leaders to make the telecoms put up their evidence that they acted with government assurances of legality when spying on Americans ... or shut up about being hamstrung to defend themselves. He rightfully cautions against getting too hopeful about this sudden growth of political spine, but at this point in this travesty any reason for optimism is worth at least a moment of subdued celebration.
