Is a community site a community even if its users don’t communicate? That’s the question for Livejournal users on Friday, March 21st when a User Content Strike begins. The strike is being spearheaded by member beckyzoole. Users are encouraged to not post any new content or comments to LiveJournal from midnight GMT to midnight GMT on Friday in an effort to get the attention of the new owners of Livejournal to meet their demands.
As a Livejournal user I really want to show my solidarity but I wonder if this will work? Will this even be a blip on the radar? Will no new user generated content on a site that’s entire commodity is user generated content survive something like this for prolonged periods? Also what affect will this have on other social networks?
Maybe Livejournal's new owners need to take a look at this?

FYI as per this blog entry
FYI as per this blog entry (http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/395815.html) the "interest" statistics . . . or at least that is what we assume they are . . . have been restored
But as technical people, as business professionals AND people who understand it takes money to do things, we are completely confused about why no-one from the company is communicating with anyone.
Edit: We'd were even willing to give them the benefit of the doubt that the it was an error or it was a new statistical algorithm (well were . . . until we saw this: http://community.livejournal.com/changelog/6283445.html! if you must change/remove a "filter" it implies you were ah actually "filtering")
umm . . . so anyway thoughts on why "bisexuality" and not "gay", "lesbian", "homosexual", et. al. be subject to censorship?

PS and for goodness sakes why would someone censor "faeries"? A topic beloved on little children and the subject of such non-offensive things as Disney Cartoons and Victorian Lady Illustrators? Again if it's a glitch why not say so?

So get off the fence and join us and encourage your f-list to join you!
So what if it won't cause the greatest brown out ever - you're part of a community. We were here before SUP dammit and deserve to be treated with a modicum of respect. SUP consistently introduce sweeping changes without any prior communication, and in the case of making only Paid accounts ad free ignored the advice of their own advisory board!
