As I pointed out here, IT management software that allows companies to do more with less people are always popular in a downturn. IT managers know that they will be asked to keep more IT running without being able to hire (or even worse have to layoff people). If they can better leverage what they have with a more intelligent and automated approach, they believe they will get through the downturn without killing their staff with more work per person (leading to more work hours).
