Different

I think you're missing the point of this commercial. The mother calls the kid "Takashi," which is a boy's name: he's been transformed into a girl. I think they're making a comparison between the transformative power of the Core 2 Duo processor, a "New Age of CPUs," and the kid being transformed.

Chicken and Frog

You're missing the pun here. Chicken is ``tori'' and frog is ``kaeru''. Put them together and it's ``torikaeru'' which means ``convert'' (pointing out the way the toilet seat can be easily converted).

This is a really superficial way to see the ad...

This is a really superficial way to see the ad. You've got to at least understand what is written on the last snapshot of the add. It says White Family 24! Kazoku= Family!

The two women are not the guy's colleagues. They are part of the guys' family, probably his wife and his daughter.

The guy in the suit is

The guy in the suit is actually the brother here's the rundown.

Dog = Father
Younger Woman = Sister
Older Woman = Mother
Guy In Suit = Brother

This is an ad in a series of ads for promoting SoftBank's 24/7 free calls to anyone in the family. For the record if this journalist is going to analyze Japanese ads he should at least have some knowledge in Japanese. For example this ad isn't about using an inferior cellphone. The man is being scolded for being late and not calling even though calls to the family are free with SoftBank's services. All of these ads are labeled by visual context and not on what is being said.

Hooboy

I suppose that given the fact that Americans look at even British Humor as somewhat "odd" and just a tad bit zany, why wouldn't we look at this in the same way? Got a total kick out of it if for nothing else to say "It takes all kinds..." I'm afraid to see what would happen to the GoDaddy commercials over there!

For the Canon laser ad, the "hot woman" is a famous Japanese act

For the Canon laser ad, the "hot woman" is a famous Japanese actress. It is 長谷川京子 (Hasegawa Kyoko or Kyoko Hasegawa).

Sloppy job on "growing boobs" add

0

Come on, you really are going to go with "her breasts grew, 2 breasts, Core2 Duo!" idea?

If they were going to do that, she would have big breasts. She is obviously too big for the clothes she is wearing, and the room doesn't look like a little girls room at all, now does it.

Little boy turned into a young woman. You guys are trying way too hard. Sorry, but this one is a fail.

I want one!!!

I really would not mind having one of those sitting on my desk :p

Intel's Core2 Duo processor helps a girl enlarge her breasts

0

No, it's even weirder than that. The mother is calling "her" name at the beginning...Takashi... a -boy's- name. Yes, a boy wakes up one morning and is a girl, and the text says "Inside your computer, this is the level of change." (rough translation). As to the self groping...if you were a guy in puberty, and suddently had easy access to boobs you could grope without shame, would you be paying attention to anything else for a while?

10 ads?

I only saw 9. Did I miss one?

I live in Japan and see the Softbank ads all the time. They have weirder ones with the dog and another one with Brad Pitt walking through a storm or something.
