It Hurts so good

I am the Inventor of the magicJack.I Think I just got beat up with a feather.I very much appreciate the kind words on what I have toiled on the last few years.Let me just say a few words about the Customer service.Our average Tech has only been on for six weeks.Every time you Chat with them,you have an opportunity to Grade them.What we did this week,is take the agents who graded the best,and made them into Super techs.When one of the agents finds themselves stumped,they now hand off the chat to the super agent right away.In a few days time,the 130 agents we have,who answer chat within seconds,has an approval rating double what they had just last week.They are graded 1 to 5,5 being the best.Yesterday,they had six 5s to every 1.At the end of the month,we will fire the bottom 15% of the agents,and the approval rating will go up drastically again.We only started 90 days ago,and it is expected to have this washout of agents and improvements.It is imperative we support people via chat,so we can make sure the computer and Internet are working.I recieved the JD Power award in my last telecom Business,and what is now percieved as our weakness,will quickly grow to our strength.Now as far as the magicJack site is concerned,you have to go with what works.Like Ron P says,throw the chicken in the roto,Set it and folks"Forget it"Works for him,works for us.I will post our 100 day report card on our site any day now.

I have used this device for some months now, and also highly recommend it, but with some minor caveats. I take it on travel and use it for long distance calls from hotels, etc that provide wideband internet. Note that the device does NOT work without wideband (no dialup). Also don't try to use it over satellite internet -- the inherent delays are not acceptable. One other item is that it does not work well with speaker phones. You can hear the other party well, but your outgoing can be noisy, etc.

If you need to make calls from the US/Canada to overseas, there is an additional cost (relatively low) but you must establish an account. However, it appears that making calls FROM overseas to the US/Canada comes under the unlimited/free setup !!

With those comments, its easily worth the price.

Virus detected when Magicjack is plugged in

Hello Dan the man inventor of MagicJack:

First let me say the MagicJack is great. I have used it for three months. At times I need to hang up and redial because the other person on the end of the phone says they only hear every other word. Still worth the money.

My problems started lastnight when I connected my laptop and Magicjact to my docking station. CA Security Center told me I had the Win32/Loodok!generic.2 virus 4 times and quarintined 2 of them but left two of them. After extensive troubleshooting I was able to clear the virus with the Magicjack disconnected. I rebooted my computer connecting the peripheral devices one at a time, with a fresh reboot every time I connected a new device. When I connected the Magicjack I got the CA antivirus alert again. I repeated this several times to make sure.

In addition when the computer reboots with Magicjack the red writing comes up saying connect the Magicjack when it is connected. Also an Explorer window opens the Magicjack website and plays the videos.

I chated with a tech (seemed to have low comprehension, and for me to say that is something because I know very little) and she said she would pass this on to an Engineer and they should get back to me within 24-48 HOURS! via email. I was not offered to go to a super tech.

I am not certian that the trouble is with the MagicJack but since the virus alert only appears when I plug the MagicJack in and the MagicJack gives me the RedScreen that says plug it in and the website for MagicJack pops up and the MagicJack does not work makes me think something is up with the MagicJack.

Is there someway to stop the MagicJack from loading when you plug it in so I could have the Anti-virus software scan it?

Thanks for the help and I hope it gets repaired faster than 48 hours, but I will say when it works it is the best thing since sliced bread!

Just received mine and let me tell you "IT FREAKIN ROCKS"!!!! $19 bucks a year?? What a STEAL! You won't regret it! Make sure you have good bandwidth I have 6M dn 1M up and it's practicall flawless.

Yes, you can. It is VoIP so as long as you can route IP from your PC to the Internet, the required ports aren't blocked, and you have reasonably good bandwidth it should work just fine.

Yes, I too was skeptical, but thought what do I have to loose $40? BFD, I can tell you it works, and yes I hear the customer service sucks and I agree that the marketing looks like an amateur built the site. But I could care less about paying higher prices for Marketing, their shipping fees are not out of line, yes he makes a few bucks on that based on HIS PACKAGING. Very small, slim light foam protected package (very smart) from the git go! Customer Service, yes a must for some, but like they say, you just plug it in and after a few minutes of transferring info and registering it. Your done and IT JUST SIMPLY WORKS. BOTTOM LINE, I don't want higher prices for marketing, shipping was quick and cost was reasonable, Customer service, well I can't tell you I DIDN'T NEED IT! Have to say, the phone companies are in for a huge loss of revenue, especially with all they have already lost due to the cable company offering telco service.
