Appliances
Most appliances are based on BIND, including the Infoblox solution.
djbdns is great, but not free enough
I am a big fan of Dan Bernstein and a long time user of his software, but djbdns has specific restrictions that make community development problematic. Anyway, more free, secure and fast DNS software is always appreciated.
DJB released all his softwares under public domain

I've had good luck with SimpleDNS.com on Windows Server
I've had good luck with SimpleDNS.com on Windows Server. I don't have tons of traffic, but I do have a few hundred domains in my two Internet nameservers. The new version of Simple DNS is even quicker supposedly, because it runs on SQL Server.
The same company has a Simple Failover product that works with Simple DNS as well.
