Cisco has done a complete redesign of their 12 inhouse blogs.
"The goal of our blog redesign was to upgrade our blog site to make it easier for people to join in a conversation with us...the redesign enabled us to make it easier for people to interact with us, comment on our blogs, and quickly see what topics our bloggers are blogging about."
"We now list our official blogs in a more prominent way on the site so people can easily select the blog that interests them and join the conversation."
"As you can see...we have listed our official blogs on the upper left corner of the site and we also highlight top posts and top commented blogs."
"We hope this will lead to increased viewership and engagement with our bloggers."
"Some things we added...a tag cloud, for example, so people coming to our site can see what topics are most popular with our bloggers. We've heard from many folks that they'd like to be able to search by post or author, so we added that. We have about 100 executives blogging at Cisco and teams of experts that contribute to our official blogs, so we wanted to make it as easy as possible for people to read posts on a topic that interests them and connect with a Cisco blogger."
"The Platform is our official corporate news blog so now when anyone comes to blogs.cisco.com, they can read what's happening at Cisco on a global basis and comment on our posts. The Platform is our most popular blog and the one we use for all of our corporate news and events, so we wanted a blog site that featured it prominently. We are also big proponents of video and we make an effort to video blog whenever we can. You can see that on our site today...interviews with our executives from all around the world."
"We're also very excited to link to Cisco videos on our channel on YouTube. We are committed to video as a communications medium, so we post videos on our blog that reflect our company's strategy. and, if they are viewed as interesting and informative by our readers, that's even better news to us!"
Features to be added in the near future to Cisco blogs:
| 1. | Twitter feed |
| 2. | Flickr module |
| 3. | Digg and Delicious tags |
| 4. | Ratings system for posts |
| 5. | Embeddable blog content widget |
"I hope you tell us what you think and what we can do better."
