Does Microsoft deserve applause for meeting or exceeding its Hyper-V timeline? It shipped its major server OS release and promised that one of the most important components will be out half a year later -- and this is years after VMware created the virtualization space. OK -- its a proven strategy to keep talking up what you have coming to help put a freeze on the market while the world waits for you to deliver.
The news on Beta 3 of its Identity Lifecycle Manager (ILM) 2.0 is what might be more hot. Microsoft's identity management work has earned high praise from security researchers. Its push for Forefront indicates once again that Microsoft would rather compete and get all the pie than partner with leading security vendors and share it.
