Hard Savings of NAC

Although the ROI is difficult to calculate for NAC in the general case, some hard savings can be assessed in specific cases. For example, a customer of ours reduced the workload of its help desk staff by 15 to 20 percent by having more consistent PC configurations and updates. This saved the company $40K annually, which was enough to cover the cost of our NAC solution.

NAC in general

Part of the slow uptake of NAC can be attributed to the fact that it is often a solution in search of a problem. The 'Health Checks' generally rely on your installed AV software. If the visiting machine has a virus that your AV does not detect (sadly common), the infected machine is allowed on the network. If your AV does have a signature, the virus would be unable to spread anyway since the other workstations would flag it as such.
