Ok...so there's this virus out there that does some bad stuff. Buying Kaspersky's goodies won't make your network secure, but you will think it does.

While Kaspersky is a commercial entity, they are offering the "StopGpcode" utility as freeware:

This utility is used in conjunction with the "Photorec" utility, as mentioned in the article.
