Australian upstart Exinda Networks is in this week’s “ADS Customers Speak” spotlight. While leading US vendors like Riverbed, Cisco, Juniper, Packeteer and Blue Coat focus on high-end, high-performance application delivery solutions, this strappy little company from down under is racing after the middle market—which may well be larger overall than the top-of-the-line market. This week we ask Exinda’s customers’ to share their experiences with the Exinda x800 product.
Founded in 2002 as a network monitoring and application visibility company, Exinda subsequently morphed into a WAN optimization and application acceleration solution vendor—but with an unusual twist. Exinda is the only vendor we know of with a Web-based software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform for centrally managing WAN optimization appliances from anywhere via a Web browser.
This is appealing to thinly-staffed small to medium sized businesses as well as the VARs and carriers that serve them, because it is very easy to install and manage. Exinda’s SaaS management capability, called Service Delivery Point (SDP), runs from Exinda’s facilities enabling a customer to buy and deploy x800 appliances without the fuss of setting up a management and monitoring system. It also offers good visibility into end-user response time.
Among the x800 product features that Exinda touts are bandwidth utilization reporting by application, host, or individual traffic flow, and the ability to detect and control recreational peer-to-peer traffic such as BitTorrent and Limeware. Exinda continually updates its signatures to deal with new or updated peer-to-peer applications.
The x800 accelerates TCP, CIFS, and HTTP, plus it does dictionary compression. It also provides bandwidth allocation, as well as priority handling through ToS and DiffServ tagging. The appliance is available in form factors suited for the small branch office, medium to large branch or headquarters office, and for the data center.
If you have deployed an Exinda x800 solution, tell us what you think. Does it live up to your expectations? What were your impressions? A simple "I like it", "I have mixed feelings", or "I hate it" response is fine—but if you have insight to share with the community, then talk all you want. You can post a reply to this blog using your name or anonymously.
If you are using Expand or Silver Peak solutions, your turn will come in a future blog. If you are using another major vendor’s product, check our previous Wednesday blogs and add your comments.

Exinda - Great Reporting & Easy to Use
I have found Exinda's x800 products to be comprehensive. I particularly like how it detects and reports on applications at layer 7 and its ability to control recreational P2P traffic to free up bandwidth. Exinda's Service Delivery Point is very easy to use and rather inexpensive compared to other centralized management systems. It let's you manage all the WAN opt. appliances in your network from a single Web browser. Exinda is a company that's dedicated to R&D. With continuous enhancements to the products, Exinda is likely to emerge as a leader in this market.
Exinda's Application Visibility Features
We are a reseller of Exinda products. Our customers love the application visibility that Exinda provides. Once they see all the applications running on their network & what is consuming their bandwidth, it makes optimizing the network a much simpler process.
Exinda's X800
I have never used Exinda’s products but Exinda has a reputation for being affordable, easy to use and effective at improving application performance for branch office workers accessing applications centralized at the data center.
Exinda x800 Speeds Remote Apps
We use Exinda's x800 appliances in 10 of our office to improve the remote delivery of engineering files. File transfer times have improved dramatically and employees are happier and far more productive. Exinda has also helped us greatly reduce our bandwidth utilization. It has been a great solution for us!
Exinda - Excellent return on investment ...
I have found the reporting that Exinda provides is brilliant. It’s like having an "X-ray" device for the network. It helps me to know exactly what is traversing our wide area network at any time and allows identification of any traffic congestion down to protocol level. The reporting capability is second to none .... The product has certainly exceeded my expectations. Thank you.
Exinda x800
Exinda’s x800 products integrate application visibility, optimization, application acceleration and application response measurement onto a single network device. Two of these components, application visibility and application response measurements, are often overlooked yet critical for truly maximizing application performance. Exinda is one of the few vendors that has these tools and makes them very easy to use.

Exinda's x800 is so easy to deploy and use
What I like is that Exinda products don’t require a ton of expertise in WAN optimization. In about 12 simple steps, the box is up and running on a default configuration to optimize and accelerate traffic. Once you fine the tune the network policies, it basically runs on auto pilot and you just need to review the reports at regular intervals. This is a massive plus in a market where many of the solutions available are complex to install and configure.
Exinda networks
Exinda has two core strengths that sets it apart from the other WAN optimization vendors. First is application visibility which allows you to understand how network resources are being consumed and get the maximum efficiency from your network. Second is the ability to detect and control recreational peer-to-peer traffic which plays a big role in improving application delivery.I really enjoy selling the product!
Exinda - Easy to use with more features than a 747
You're blog might pitch Exinda's solution as aiming for the middle market when compared to the likes of Packeteer but in reality Exinda's easy to deploy and easy to use solution happily scales to 1.5Gb of WAN throughput in some very large and complex environments. Just because something's cheaper than the market leader doesn't mean it's not as good. In the years I've been selling and installing Exinda we have NEVER lost a deal based on features (that's features not price !) against any of the competion.
Sometimes you can have your cake and eat it.
Exinda, the best thing to come out of Australia since Cate Blanchett !
Exinda
Exinda products are exceptional at controlling recreational peer-to-peer traffic on corporate networks. This capability really sets Exinda apart from other WAN optimization vendors. We love the Exinda products.
