VISTA
In all my years of working with MS O/S NEVER NEVER have I encountered an O/s as messie as VISTA. Worse Microsoft has ever put on the market. Take it off, Take it all OFF...
Really.. you fools
Any examples of apps that don't work on Vista? (well anything made this century).
"Some people will always buy 95/98/XP from somewhere.. don't question their stupidity, just let them get on with it"
It's a no brainer for a lot of consumers, also
Not gonna upgrade, skipped from Win98 to XP in '06. I can wait a lot longer than Windows 7, if I have to.
Maybe M$ will get the message, Finally. I'm still PO'd cause I had to pay for Win98se - it was really a service packed win95, anyhow.
Myths
Myth #1: You'll have to buy a new, high-end PC to run Vista
- Typically the same system you had to run XP will also run Vista. Though, it is a larger OS it is wiser to have a bit more RAM at minimum.
Myth #2: Vista will solve all your security problems
- As with all software it's only as good as the user that chooses the options.
Myth #3: Vista is no more secure than XP SP2
- Account Control (UAC) in Vista protects against attacks that rely on elevation of privileges. Internet Explorer 7, when running on Vista, leverages UAC to run in Protected Mode, which keeps Web applications from writing to system folders. IE7 doesn't run in Protected Mode on XP.
Myth #4: The only thing new about Vista is the eye candy
- In addition to the security improvements discussed above, many aspects of the operating system have been reworked to improve usability and provide new functionality.
Myth #5: You can't dual boot Vista with another operating system
- Blatantly false statement. Easy as pie to dual boot to any other OS installed on the system.
Myth #6: Vista requires (or includes) Office 2007
- Blatantly false statement. You can run OpenOffice, Google Docs or many other productivity software packages. It does not include any productivity software except perhaps, prepackaged MSWorks on some bundles. (OEM Bundles)
Myth #7: Most old applications and peripherals won't work with Vista
- In some cases, you may need to install or run older programs in Compatibility mode (right-click the program file, select Properties, and click the Compatibility tab to select compatibility options) and/or run the program as an administrator for it to work properly.
You don't have to figure out most compatibility issues for yourself. Vista comes with the Program Compatibility Assistant, which can detect what changes need to be made to run a program and resolve conflicts with UAC that may be preventing a program from running correctly. It runs automatically when it detects an older program that has compatibility issues. You can also use the Program Compatibility Wizard, a tool that you run manually from the Control Panel | Programs and Features section (in native view).
(Note this features is also in Windows XP - right clicking the executable (.exe file) and choose properties | compatibility tab will get you to the right place.
Myth #8: You have to buy a Premium version of Vista if you have a dual core machine
- In fact, all versions of Vista will run on a machine with multiple processors installed--but Home Basic and Premium will recognize and use only one of the processors.
Myth #9: You won't be able to play ripped music in Vista
- Interestingly, the people who are spreading this one all seem to be folks who have never used Vista (and, according to many of them, never will). The real story: I have no problem playing music files that were ripped from CDs on Windows Media Player 10 or in Vista's Windows Media Center application. Yes, I legally own the CDs, but Vista has no way of knowing that.
Myth #10: Vista costs a lot more than XP
- Vista gives you many more options:
Home Basic: $199 full, $99 upgrade
Home Premium: $239 full, $159 upgrade
Business: $299 full, $199 upgrade
Ultimate: $399 full, $259 upgrade
All of these pricing options are on-par with XP and in fact are cheaper when compared with the original release of XP.
XP is still the best OS out there...
XP is still the best OS out there. Windows 7 would have to be a miracle product to stand taller. Especially being based on vista code. Why the heck they didnt just improve on XP code is beyond me. Bad move on MS`s part afaic.
Takes a fool to call one out
The OS is crap, even MS knows it's crap. Why do you think they are doing the Mojave Experiment and I'm a PC (both of which are terrible) ad campaigns? Why release win7 after 3 year when the diff between XP and Vista was 5? Why, because they know they pumped out a pay to play beta, piece of junk OS that only delivered half of what was promised. If you really like the look and feel of Vista that much, go buy a Mac, that's obviously what MS tried and failed to achieve.
Love Vista, mad system so easy to set up and deploy...
