How to configure EIGRP variance to load balance traffic across unequal cost links

The variance command instructs the router to include routes with a metric less than n times the minimum metric (feasible distance) route for that destination.

The variable n can take a value between 1 and 128.

The default is 1, which means equal cost load balancing.

Traffic is also distributed among the links with unequal costs, proportionately, with respect to the metric.

Determine the metrics for the available paths.

Configure the variance command to increase the minimum metric to allow Enhanced Interior Gateway Routing Protocol (EIGRP) to load balance traffic among the desired paths.
