I was starting to have fun wallowing in my frustration about not hearing from the company and waiting, waiting and waiting some more, but this morning at 2:51 a.m. I got the e-mail notification from AT&T that the iPhone 3G I had ordered last week was being shipped, and would soon be on its way.
Since that message I was able to track it, and then I received another e-mail and phone call from the AT&T store that the iPhone was now in their building, and that I would have seven days to pick up the device or the order would be canceled. Interestingly, the e-mail says that my credit card was now being charged, correcting an assumption on my part that "AT&T had my money for seven days", it turns out that they didn't charge the card until it was in their building. Still, because I can't pick up the phone until Monday (weekend commitments), I'm floating them 3 days of money. That's OK though.
A colleague who ordered his iPhone through a different store also hit the jackpot on the early delivery, so now we have a glut of iPhones here at the office.
We'll have to figure out something else to complain about now.
Speaking of the iPhone, be sure to check out this Cool Tools video that highlighted my favorite fun (and free!) apps from the App Store.
